Join local dyer and Art in the Wild participant Carol Reed and dye your own cotton t-shirt. While foraging for black walnuts with a Wildwood Naturalist, the t-shirts will be pre-treated so the dye will last longer. Once the walnuts have been collected, we’ll process them and create a dyebath.
The first session will end around 12:00pm on Saturday, October 3rd with all the t-shirts soaking in the dye. Participants should plan to come back Thursday, October 8th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm that evening to remove their t-shirt from the dye vat and have the option of using iron to darken the color a bit more.
All participants are required to bring a 100% cotton t-shirt with them. If you are unable to attend the follow-up session on Thursday evening, you can pick up your t-shirt at the Nature Center starting Saturday, October 10. Program limited to 14 participants ages 12 and older. Pre-registration required.
