Summer Day Camps

Registration for summer day camp programs opens on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. **Please note the new dates. Space is limited, parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for daily pick-up and drop-off of campers to the Olewine Nature Center. Campers must bring their own food for camps. Please only register for one week; activities and topics will be repeated.

All camper registration information will be gathered upon purchase. Once you register, please expect an email 2 weeks before your child’s scheduled week of camp which will include details about your week of camp. Please email questions to slenker@dauphincounty.gov

2024 Summer Day Camp Schedule

Nature Explorers Day Camp (ages 6-8)

Week 1: Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14
9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day
$165 per participant

Children ages 6 to 8 will learn about animal adaptations, explore aquatic life in Paxton Creek and enjoy a live animal presentation. Each day will focus on a new, fun topic about our local plants and animals and include nature themed activities and crafts. Registration limited to 20 campers.

Junior Naturalist Day Camp (ages 9-11)

Week 1: Monday, June 24 to Friday, June 28
9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day
$165 per participant

Campers ages 9 to 11 who are interested in discovering the outdoors will spend the week learning more about species identification and natural history. Hands-on activities will explore life beneath water, amphibians, reptiles, birds and insects. Discover new habitats while visiting Detweiler Park and enjoy a live animal presentation. Various activities such as hiking, journaling and using binoculars will also be included. Registration limited to 20 campers.

Outdoor Week (ages 12-14)

Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26
9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day
$165 per participant

Outdoor enthusiasts ages 12 to 14 will spend the week outdoors exploring the natural world and learning basic wilderness survival skills. Discover the importance of teamwork while working together to build insect hotels, shelters and fires. Navigation skills, edible plants, kayaking and knot-tying are just a few of the fun activities included. Registration limited to 18 campers.

Little Sprouts Day Camp (ages 4-5)

Tuesday, July 30 to Thursday, August 1
9:00 am – 12:00 pm each day
$50 per participant

Sprouts ages 4 and 5 will discover nature through hands-on activities. Spend the day exploring the outdoors through discovery and sensory walks, stories, crafts and much more. Learn about the different plants and animals that call Wildwood Park home. Chaperones are not required to stay with their sprouts. Registration limited to 15 campers.

$50 per participant

Sprouts ages 4 and 5 will discover nature through hands-on activities. Spend the day exploring the outdoors through discovery and sensory walks, stories, crafts and much more. Learn about the different plants and animals that call Wildwood Park home. Chaperones are not required to stay with their sprouts. Registration limited to 15 campers.
