Walk with a Doc

Tuesday, June 11, 2024 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Cost: Free

Join us for a moderately paced walk around Wildwood Park in Harrisburg. Parking and meet-up will be in front of the Olewine Nature Center. The walk will be on a variety of surfaces and may include some slight inclines. It will be an out-and-back walk so participants can customize the length of the walk based on their individual goals.

This Walk With A Doc program is designed to provide some general health information and a moderately-paced walk. This is a FREE walk, but we ask that you pre-register. This walk is appropriate for all ages and children are welcome to attend but should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.

This is a rain-or-shine event; however, we will not walk in the snow, icy conditions, or thunderstorms. The email you use when registering is where we will contact you should there be any weather modifications necessary. Please check your email 1-hour before the walk time for any weather updates or cancellations.

Most of the walk will be flat, but there may be some slightly elevated areas. We encourage you to come out and join the walk for as long or as little as you can.

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • You may encounter slightly uneven terrain along with paved surfaces.
  • Dress for the weather and wear comfortable supportive shoes.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. You may also bring your own snacks.
  • You may want to bring a hat, sunglasses, or sunscreen
  • Ample free parking is available at Wildwood Park
  • Restroom facilities are available

About Dr. Onks:

Cayce A. Onks, DO, MS, ATC started his career in Sports Medicine as a Certified Athletic Trainer following graduation from The University of Tennessee with a degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University. Dr. Onks graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He completed an osteopathic internship through PCOM and the Crozer-Keystone Health System in Philadelphia and a Family Medicine residency program at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He then completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship training at Penn State University in State College. Dr. Onks serves as a team physician for the Hershey Bears Hockey Club, Lebanon Valley College, and Lebanon High School.  He has a comprehensive family medicine practice. In addition, his sports medicine practice includes evaluation and management of orthopedic injuries, exercise prescription, sport-related concussions, medical management of athletic-related illness, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
