Snapping Turtles are currently laying eggs on the edges of trails and in the flower beds. Please give the mother’s space and observe from a distance.

A male Rose-breasted Grosebeak was seen at the birdfeeders behind the Nature Center.


April 29

An American Coot was spotted on the Lake. These birds are often seen alone.


April 26

Wetlands Festival is today from 10AM – 4PM! Come on out for a free day of family fun.


April 25

A Sora, a solitary quail-sized wading bird, was heard and seen in a patch of cattails along the edge of the Lake by the Mulch Pile on the Towpath.


April 21

Baltimore Orioles have returned to the Park. They’ve been seen around the Nature Center and Delta Boardwalk.


April 10

Dutchman’s Breeches, Early Saxifrage, Spring Beauty and Lesser Celandine are blooming along the trails.


April 2

A Black-necked Stilt was spotted on the mud flats of the middle lake along the Towpath.


March 19

The Great Egret has returned to the Lake.


March 18

The Lenten Rose is blooming in front of the Nature Center.


March 14

Recent sightings from the Towpath Trail include Wilson’s Snipe, Tundra Swan, Wood Duck, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall and American Black Duck.
