Summer Day Camps

Registration for summer day camp programs is now open. Camps fill quickly as space is limited, parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for daily pick-up and drop-off of campers to the Olewine Nature Center. Campers must bring their own food for camps. Campers must be the specified age by the start of their week of camp, no exceptions will be made. Please only register for one week; activities and topics will be repeated.

All camper registration information will be gathered upon purchase. Once you register, please expect an email 2 weeks before your child’s scheduled week of camp which will include details about your week of camp. Please email questions to slenker@dauphincounty.gov

2025 Summer Day Camp Schedule

Little Sprouts Day Camp (ages 4-5)

Sprouts ages 4 and 5 will discover nature through hands-on activities. Spend the day exploring the outdoors through discovery and sensory walks, stories, crafts and much more. Learn about the different insects and animals that live in Wildwood Park’s wetlands. Chaperones are not required to stay with their sprouts. Registration limited to 16 campers. $50 per participant

Nature Explorers Day Camp (ages 6-8)

Explorers ages 6 to 8 will learn about animal characteristics, investigate aquatic life in Paxton Creek and experience live animals up-close. Each day we will explore a new topic including native plants/flowers, birds, reptiles, rocks/fossils and invertebrates. Hands-on discovery using microscopes, binoculars and lab equipment will inspire curiosity. Nature-themed activities and crafts will be included. Please register for only one week; activities and topics will be repeated. Registration limited to 20 campers. $165 per participant. 9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day

Junior Naturalist Day Camp (ages 9-11)

Junior Naturalists ages 9 to 11 interested in the flora and fauna of Wildwood Park will spend the week learning about species identification and natural history. Topics explored include life beneath the water, mammal skulls, amphibians, reptiles, trees and fungi. Discover new habitats while visiting Detweiler Park and enjoy a live animal presentation. Various activities such as hiking, journaling/sketching and specimen collection will also be included. Please register for only one week; activities and topics will be repeated. Registration limited to 20 campers. $165 per participant. 9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day

Outdoor Week (ages 12-14)

Outdoor enthusiasts ages 12 to 14 will spend the week in nature exploring the natural world and learning basic wilderness survival skills. Each day will include a hike and digging deeper into a different aspect of survival. Activities may include fire building, wild edibles, water filtration and navigation skills. Discover the importance of teamwork during daily “initiative” challenges and activities. The week will also include an off-site hiking trip and tandem kayaking experience. Registration limited to 18 campers. $165 per participant. 9:00 am – 3:00 pm each day

Financial Assistance

  • Limited scholarship funds may be available to camp registrants in need of financial assistance. All inquiries must be submitted to Savanna Berry at slenker@dauphincounty.gov between January 22, 2025 and February 28, 2025
  • Inquires must include all registration information: Name, phone number, email, camper name, age, camp interested in, drop off/pick up person for camper.
  • Scholarship funding provided by Appalachian Audubon Society.
