WILDWOOD JIGSAW PUZZLE
The Nature Shop at Wildwood is pleased to announce the availability of a new and unique 504-piece jigsaw puzzle. The puzzle shows a 16” x 20” reproduction of a painting created by artist Bruce Johnson. Johnson maintained a studio in Hershey, PA. for a number of years and created the Wildwood painting for the 1999 opening of the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center. The original painting is a cherished piece of the Center’s collection of paintings, photographs, taxidermy and other ephemera. An enlarged copy of the painting hangs in the Center’s Exhibit Hall just inside the metal gates.
The painting’s subject is a humorous interpretation of Wildwood showing the Park’s flora, fauna and visitor activities both above and below the wetland waterline. The highly detailed image provides endless entertainment and amusement for the viewer.
Why 504 pieces when standard jigsaw puzzles are typically made with 200, 500, 1000, 2000, etc. pieces? The manufacturer of the new Wildwood Puzzle maintains that every piece of the puzzle is a unique shape which dictates that the unusual number of pieces becomes necessary.
The Nature Shop curators at Wildwood continually strive to offer new items for visitors. The primary goal of the offerings is to present nature-themed items and educational materials that encourage the understanding and appreciation of Wildwood and the nature-focused character and mission of the Park.
A limited number of puzzles was ordered. The cost for the puzzles is $36.00 plus tax. And remember, Friends of Wildwood members receive a 10% discount on all Nature Shop purchases.
